Science Communication at the REEF

Huge congratulations to undergraduates Ian Ridge and Brandon Aoki, and graduate students Hope Christofferson and Ivanna Arrizon Elizarraras for completing a informal science education poster for UCSB REEF!

This project, funded by the Coastal Fund, aims to make scientific knowledge more accessible to REEF visitors. The poster has been produced in both English and Spanish to support broader accessibility. In addition, Ian Ridge created 3D-printed urchin tests to enhance tactile, hands-on learning.

We hope this resource inspires visitors to engage more deeply with our local marine species and fosters a stronger sense of connection within our community. Come check it out during the REEF's next open hours!
